Introducing our fabulous new Scottish craft gin...MAURA.
An ancient Celtic name meaning 'Star of the Sea', Maura celebrates Scotland's women, who helped shape its history, legends and stories of the sea. We also commemorate St. Maura, a devotee of St. Columba, who settled on Great Cumbrae in the 7th Century and helped spread Christianity to the West of Scotland.
Our gin label artwork is designed by the incredibly talented Ayrshire born artist Hope Blamire. Maura launched on 15th of June, with the first batch of our gorgeous new Scottish gin selling out in 58 minutes!
Meet Hope Blamire, our Maura gin label artist, a celebrated Scottish painter (and self-described gin enthusiast!), whose vibrant artwork captures the coastal landscapes and glistening waters of the West Coast of Scotland. Her artwork is featured in galleries and shops across the UK, and in homes throughout the world.
Born in Ayrshire, Hope studied Illustration and Printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee. She lived in France, Canada, Egypt, and Malawi, where she taught art before returning the UK. Hope now lives in Bath with her husband and sons, but her 'spiritual' home will always be the West Coast of Scotland. She is a highly regarded and exceptionally talented artist, a passionate campaigner for responsible tourism and a champion fund-raiser for several important causes.
We are so grateful to Hope for her generosity; for working with us to create a show-stopping piece of art in the Maura label, and for helping us expand our reach globally. We know this is a one-of-a kind piece and we are soooooo excited to introduce Maura to the world!
