Meet Ruth Slater

We've been getting lots of interest, and people asking us who designed the gorgeous Waverley gin label, which is heat pressed onto the glass and creates a permanent label and a wonderful keepsake...long after the gin is gone. When we set out to design the label, we wanted to make sure we found a local artist who understood the special place that Waverley has in so many people's hearts. We chose talented Bute artist, Ruth Slater. Ruth is a contemporary artist who creates truly unique art in various media; her art captures the personality, the very essence of her subject, in this case, the Waverley, the world's last oceangoing paddle steamer. In our label, the Waverley is sailing past the Cloch Lighthouse, with a gorgeous oyster catcher watching as she passes. And do you see the cross in the sky? We often see airplane trails crossing to form the Scottish saltire, testimony to her origins. And finally, our gorgeous funnel neck tie! Don't you love it? Waverley enthusiasts will be sure to note we have been very careful in making sure the necktie matches the iconic Waverley funnel.
